Something that really inspires me is music. When I hear a good song I just want to get up and do something positive! The music flows through my veins giving me energy and liveliness. It never ceases to amaze me how much music affects me. From an elegant classical piece to an upbeat pop song, it all works for me as long as I can connect with the sound.
What are your dreams for the future?
I see myself reaching out to people to make the world a better place in my future. It doesn't really matter if it's through acting, modeling, or film making, as long as I am doing my part to help this beautiful world, I'm good. I dream to change the way people treat everything around them. I want to inspire people to make a difference and be kind and thoughtful to all, especially themselves.
Who is your role model and why?
I think my role model is...... this is hard! There are so many extraordinary people in my life, from my family who is always there to support me, to my friends who tolerate my craziness(and may even join me in my dance through life). But I think the person who I most look up to is... Michael Jackson! I know, I am not even distantly related to him and I never even met him in real life. That doesn't stop him from being one of the greatest people I've ever known about. He created music that sent a positive message into the world, which is evident in "Man in the Mirror," and "Heal the World." Michael managed to change the earth through music, and I aspire to do that with what I love. Even when he was going through hard times, he put on a brave face and continued doing what he loved. He made mistakes like all regular humans, and that's OK. We all make mistakes, you just have to learn from them. I still listen to his music when I need an energy boost (or am just craving some good ol' Jackson tunes).
Tell us about something you’ve achieved that you’re really proud of and why?
Going to New York for NY Fashion Week last year with my lovely sister and photographer Valerie (Valluv Creations) was a test as well as a treat for me. I proved that I could have fun while still staying safe and responsible in a new place. I actually got to walk in two shows! I still can hardly believe it. My parents trusted me to be careful in a city that I had never been to, and stay professional in "uncharted" modeling waters. I will never forget how much fun I had walking around New York's Time Square and ice skating as snow rained down on my nose and eyelashes. I also got to cover a few shows for Youngstrs kids fashion magazine with my sister. The fact that I got to go to such a big city for such a huge event, all thanks to Youngstrs, blows me away. Instead of being in front of the camera, I was now behind it. Overall, New York was amazing. I'll remember the friends I made (especially Cailyn an her mom Julissa) and the experiences I had for the rest of my life.
You are covering NYFW in February - what are you most excited about doing for this?
This year I get to cover New York Fashion Week again for Youngstrs Magazine. The clothes last year were stunning and unique, so I think that's what I'm most looking forward to this year. All those designers working their hardest to bring us such breath-taking clothing, it's crazy how much work they put into every piece! No doubt everything will be trendy and never-before-seen.
Please finish this sentence:I am possible because...
I am possible because of my uniqueness that boosts my self-confidence and allows me to help others boost their self-confidence. Everyone should know how to feel comfortable in their own skin. A lot of people, especially younger folks, find it hard to be proud of themselves. We need to remedy this. No one should feel the need to hide who they are, that's just not right.
What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
I think every child should grow up knowing that they can be whoever they want to be. Sometimes it seems like if we show the world our true selves, we will get shunned. You just need to know that as long as you are true to yourself, nothing can stop you. Once you realize that trying to reach beauty and body expectations is more stress and energy than it's worth, you will be a lot happier. Everyone is different personality and body wise, and that's OK. Those differences are what make you, you. A You completely unclonable. A You that can never be recreated or replaced.
What does Isossy's message of embracing modern heritage mean to you?
To me, Issosy's message of embracing modern heritage is something that everyone should know about. You should accept and celebrate who you are no matter where you come from.
What’s next for you?
What's next for me? That's a hard question because of the amount of things I am doing, want to continue doing, and want to try doing. I'm going to keep modeling, acting, and going to more fashion shows if I can. I love doing photoshoots and will continue meeting new photographers and working with ones I've met before. I want to keep spreading good morals and ideals into the world in any way that I can. I found that I enjoy film making, and want to make more films for people to enjoy.
