Isossy Children meets Punkin Patch Interiors

Isossy Children was so excited to discover the high end children's furniture brand "Punkin Patch Interiors" this year. In this feature we meet founder Toks Aruoture to find out what makes her business so special.

What inspired you to start your business?
I was inspired to start Punkin Patch Interiors after I had my son, the idea of going back to a job I hated didn’t sit well with me. In addition I noticed there was no provision for high end, bespoke nurseries and children’s rooms in the UK. It was surprising that the only options celebrities had for their babies nurseries were high street brands.

What have been your favourite client experiences?
There are quite a few memorable ones. We were given the task of creating a luxury nursery for a President’s London home in 4 days. Our typical nursery takes 8 to 12 weeks to pull together as most items are made to order from scratch. The fact that we pulled it off still amazes me, especially as it was the week the Olympics began.

What advice would you give to someone starting up in your industry?
Do your research to find a niche. There are many stores selling the same items, so you have to find that unique element that will set you apart from others. It may be an additional service that no one else offers, or your excellent customer service.

What are your long term goals?
To use my growing business as a platform to inspire and mentor the youth and young adults;  I believe everyone has a gift and we will not be truly happy unless we use them.

Isossy Children celebrates diversity through global clothing for children. Why do you think diversity matters for every generation?
Our country is becoming more culturally diverse by the day.  The latest census records show 14% of the population (7.5 million) in England and Wales are foreign born and the figures are rising. Each national has a unique background which adds tremendous value to our communities.  Children exposed to multi-cultures have a more realistic, balanced and tolerant view of life than those raised without this awareness.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
Every child has a unique and special gift that only they can do excellently. We are all different because we are all special in a unique way.  One of the most important gifts you can offer a child is the gift of authenticity, be yourself.
