I am Possible with Arran

At the age of 16 in 2017, Arran was one of ten Scottish teenagers to have the privilege to complete a Polar expedition across the Arctic and have since toured Scottish schools, branches of Tiso and business events with talks to inspire others who struggle academically, to have confidence that they can still go far in life, and to encourage future sponsorship to help support others do the same. He has represented his school in various dance performances and my country in karate, training with the national squad at black belt level from the age of 11.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by helping other people who don’t believe in themselves and show them a way to help them become a better person.
What are your dreams for the future?
My dream for the future would be to become an outdoor instructor, inspirational speaker and become a guide for The Polar Academy.
Who is your role model and why?
My role model is Craig Mathieson because he taught me that you can achieve anything if you put all your efforts into it and don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do. He showed me ways that anything is possible.
You crossed the Arctic with Craig Mathieson – tell us a little about your experience and what you learnt from it.
Me, Craig and the rest of the team crossed the artic in Greenland. We did a 2-week expedition last year between march and April 2017. The whole experience was amazing, seeing mountains that aren’t named, seeing the northern lights, meeting new friends and training for the whole year, giving all of our efforts into every part of the journey. From this, I learnt that teamwork is key as we are one team and to help each other when we needed it the most on our expedition. I also learned that staying positive and believing in yourself can help you for life.
The Polar Academy is a charity that was founded to support and develop young people in confidence and overcoming challenges in life – how did it help you and how could it help others?
It helped me become more confident since I have a speech and language disorder, dyslexia and dysgraphia. From this, I have spoken to 4,000 students and adults about my experience around Scotland. It has helped me believe in what I want to do for the future. It has also helped me to inspire people as much as I can to help them to believe in themselves.
Please finish this sentence: ‘I am Possible’ because….
I am possible because I believed in myself that I could do my expedition that helped me become a better person and overcome the challenges I have and not let anyone tell me what I can’t do.
What’s an activity you wish you could try?
I wish to try windsurfing as it looks fun to do and also gives me a challenge as it is a hard activity.
What do you think of Isossy Children clothing?
I think Isossy Children Clothing is a great company to help children become confident and stop the stereotypical fashions that let kids feel free and happy about what they wear for everyday use.
What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
Believe in who you are, stay positive especially throughout the tough times and don’t let anyone tell what you can’t do.

I Am Possible with Alex Gibbon

My name is Alex Gibbon, I am a 13-year-old girl and my dream is to write and sing great songs and entertain people whilst doing what I love. I left home at 10 to board at a Performing Arts school as I have always known that singing and performing is all I want to do. I am really dyslexic so I struggle more than most when reading music but I won’t give up and will keep working really hard to progress.

What inspires you?
I am inspired by anyone working hard to chase their dreams, it could be someone who has great success or a person just starting out in anything they love after all everyone starts somewhere.

What are your dreams for the future?
My dreams for the future are to try and gain a development deal with people who are experts in the industry and can help me write and produce music everyone can connect with. Then go on with a record deal, release albums and tour etc. I am prepared to work my hardest so I hope one day my dreams come true.

Your Instagram talks a lot about body positivity – can you tell us a little about your experiences with body image and body confidence?
I’ve been talking about body positivity since singing at Mini Mode, an amazing kids fashion show. Since singing for them and it being shared on social media I’ve had lots of messages from young girls like me that don’t fit the normal body shape. They found it so encouraging that I was there on the runway and I want the fashion world to wake up and hope they start making clothes for children that are a bit bigger as we want to look pretty too. I hope I get the privilege of singing at another event like this and someone has an outfit that I can wear with pride. I was bullied at my last school and it caused issues in my confidence but I’m happy to say that my new school has made me see that everyone looks different and that’s ok.

Who is your role model and why?
My role models are strong, passionate woman who don’t feel the need to fit in and find success in their own way. My biggest role model is Adele as she is an amazing singer-songwriter and I also love Iskra and Ashley Graham as they are showing the world that it’s fine to look a bit different to the usual people on stage, in the media etc.

What do you think of Isossy Children clothing?
Isossy clothing is sooooo cool I especially loved the velvet dresses on the runway for Mini Mode. Also, I’ve seen a few ruffles in the new collection and what girl doesn’t love ruffles!!

What advice would you give to kids who love singing and want to develop their voice?
To anyone that loves singing my advice is sing, sing and sing some more. Don’t ever give up what you love doing and if you want to develop your voice find a good local singing teacher and have lessons as often as you can afford. I started lessons as a present for my 5th birthday I haven’t wanted to stop since.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
I think every child should grow up knowing that they can be anything they want to be and believe and hope dreams can come true. I believe that if I work hard, be determined and never give up (even if stuff doesn’t go to plan all the time) then my dreams can come true.

Please finish this sentence: I Am Possible because….

I am possible because… of all the amazing support and love around me. Thanks Isossy kids and the amazing Amanda and Denise for believing in me. One day I’m going to make you really really proud.

I Am Possible with Lacey Debra

Lacey is 7 year old Actress/Model with big dreams and aspirations. She has a huge lovable bubbly personality and gets through each and everyday giggling and smiling. From the tender age of 3 she dreamed of being on television and in 2017 her dream cane true when she landed a role on a long running popular Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks.

Lacey has also been lucky enough to land modelling jobs and walk during Paris Fashion Week and Birmingham Fashion Festival. These opportunities have helped her grow in so many especially in confidence and maturity.

What inspires you?
Doctors inspire me, they work endlessly to make people feel better to even saving numerous lives on a daily basis. They have looked after me on so many occasions that one day I hope to become a Dr myself and give something back to our NHS.

What are your dreams for the future?
I dream of continuing with my acting and hopefully one day I would love to be cast in a major film production like a Disney remake.

Who is your role model and why?
My mum is my role model because she does so much for me and my 2 brothers. She has always encouraged us to follow our dreams and to work hard in our education. All 3 of us are doing well in school because she has always sat with us and read with us and helped us through homework and art projects. She just puts her all into making sure we are okay.

I Am Possible because...
I have so much support around me from both family and friends, this helps me to continue to reach for all my goals and be the strong independent little lady I have always been taught to be.

What have you learnt from working in modelling and acting that you think other kids should know?
That they should be resilient and not worry about fitting in with the crowd as being yourself and unique is sometimes being that helps you to stand out.
Don’t take notice of negativity or negative comments as, as much as it can hurt it’s just somebody else’s opinion and you don’t have to agree with it.
Just let the positives outweigh the negatives and always look on the bright side.

Why do you like Isossy Children’s clothing?
Because it’s unique, it has meaning and it’s comfortable to wear.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Mind control - So I could erase any hurt or negativity that someone was feeling because too many people are feeling so low and worthless that it’s just so worrying for children and adults in this day and age.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
To always be kind.
To always be loving.
To be confident in all situations.
To never give up on dreams because eventually they become reality.
To not put others down just to make yourself feel good.
Support others through dreams and aspirations.

What inspires you?
I want to be a scientist because I can do experiments on nature.

What are your dreams for the future?
I want to be a scientist, an engineer, and a policeman.

Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my mum because she is always helpful and tells me the right thing to do every day.

Please finish this sentence: I am possible because…
I am possible because I never give up even when it’s very hard I just try.

What have you learnt from working in modelling and acting that you think other kids should know?
Always have courage inside your feelings.

Why do you like Isossy Children clothes?
The clothes are comfortable.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
My superpower would be transportation because I can go to anywhere without moving my feet.
What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?

Always ignore anyone who argues and says words inappropriate to you even your best friend or a friend because they might do or say these things.

I am Possible with Khushi

My name is Khushi Kaur and am 13.5 years old. I am the editor of my own website, Youth Ambassador for The Eve Appeal, Junior Bake Off Contestant 2015; and the Co-Founder & Editor of Award Winning Passion for Food. Cooking is one of my biggest passions and I share these on my Instagram page.

I won the Bronze Award at Hertfordshire Digital Awards in September 2016; http://www.khushikkaur.co.uk/winner-hertfordshire-digital-awards/ and I was a guest panellist at The Festival of Marketing; http://www.khushikkaur.co.uk/guest-panelist-marketing-festival/ in October 2016.I have a few media appearances over the past couple of years which can be seen here; http://www.khushikkaur.co.uk/as-seen-in/.

What inspires you?

Quotes really inspire me because they have such powerful messages behind them, even though they are expressed in small words.  One of my favorite quotes is “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it’s called the present.” Music is also quite inspiring as some words have a strong meaning about love, war, life etc.

What are your dreams for the future?

I’ve always dreamt of moving to New York and living in an apartment in the city and have a coffee-to-go in the mornings on my way to my Café / Restaurant / Fashion Studio.

But before that, Mum and I are moving to Paris in 2020 (It has always been her dream to live in Paris) which means I will be going University there; Le Cordon Bleu and International School of Fashion and then moving to New York.

Who is your role model and why?

My mum is my inspiration because she has been through so much in the past, and look where she is now.  She always motivates me and encourages me to do extra in everything and teaches me to be the better person. She prepares me for the future and expects highly of me because she knows I can do it.

What do you love most about travelling?

What I love most about travelling is: packing, getting to the airport via taxi in early morning or late night, boarding airplanes and sitting in window seats, dressing up and experiencing the countries culture. I LOVE TRAVELLING! One of my favorite countries to visit is India, as I get to see my family, eat delicious Indian food and much more.

You are a Youth Ambassador for The Eve Appeal – can you tell us a little about this?

Of course! So, I am the Youth Ambassador of the Eve Appeal and my job is to sell these beautiful heart badges for £2 and wearing a uniform to represent my job. Once, I interviewed an author and she generously donated £100 to the charity. It is for a good cause to support Women’s Cancer, especially how my Grandma died of it. I like to think of this as helping my Grandma and other Women suffering from this condition.

Please finish this sentence:
I am possible because…. I am.

What do you think of Isossy Children clothing? The brand aims to empower and inspire children who wear them – is that something you can see in the clothing?

I think Isossy Children clothing is awesome! I love the style, the vibrant colours and I like how some pieces are simple, yet some are very detailed.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?

I think that children should always follow this: “Always be yourself, and believe you are enough” Changing yourself for someone is very wrong to do, so just be yourself because …. Why not? You are amazing just the way you are!
