Isossy Children meets King Che

In this week's interview we meet a fledgling T-Shirt brand "King Che" named after this young entrepreneur based in London.

King Che relaxing on the London Underground
What inspired you to start your business?
King Che’s drawings inspired me to place his images on t-shirts, bringing back images to young girls can relate to

What have been your favourite client experiences?
As we are starting out, Selfridges Department Store have been beneficial in terms of advice and dealing with potential clients.

What advice would you give to someone starting up in your industry?
Keep focused on your dreams; do not be embarrassed to ask for help/advice

What are your long term goals?
To expand the brand ‘King Che’ with sweaters/wellington boots (gum boats)/umbrellas/knickers (panties) vests etc.

Isossy Children celebrates diversity through global clothing for children. Why do you think diversity matters for every generation?
Diversity for each subsequent generation becomes more prevalent as the population  increases and the world branches out to each other and becomes more aware.  As a result being open and willing to meet others at their map of the world is imperative.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
The same sun shines on the prince and the pauper.
The optimism of the action is better than the pessimism of the thought.
Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.

Isossy Children meets Toys for Africa

In this blog interview we learn more about an amazing charity called “Toys for Africa” which has a mission to hand a new toy to every underprivileged child in South Africa and later the whole continent of Africa. They recently passed 76 000 children that have benefited from their work.

What inspired you to start your business?
Poverty in South Africa is very high and we know that children suffer silently when their parents struggle. Children need toys for so many reasons and their development on social, physical, emotional and mental levels depend on toys.

What have been your favourite client experiences?
Seeing each and every smile that we get for delivering new toys to underprivileged children. We recently passed 76 000 children met through our work and every smile is a favourite.

What advice would you give to someone starting up in your industry?
Make sure it is your passion. As working for long hours does become tiring if you do not love every second of what you do.

What are your long term goals?
We would like to reach 17 million children with new toys. And we would like to build a manufacturing plant and start building and creating our own toys.

Isossy Children celebrates diversity through global clothing for children. Why do you think diversity matters for every generation?
Every single person differs from the next. Diversity I believe is something that makes you belong, as strange as that may sound. In South Africa we have diversity like nowhere else in the world and that is what makes us all work and stick together. Different parts of 1 team.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?
As a child you have the potential to dream big without the realisation of limitations. Keep dreaming and believing.

Isossy Children Newsflash: OPEN CALL FOR TWEEN BLOGGERS

Isossy Children is looking for Tween Bloggers to work with!

A little bit about Isossy Children
We use African, Asian and Western influences in our collections. That's our thing. We want to break down the cultural barriers which exist and really create collections that EVERYONE and we mean EVERYONE can wear.

This starts with you guys.

We want to talk about diversity and what it means to you. To give ideas, you can make a short film where you might ask the question to your friends whilst they wear our clothes or you could film yourself.

You can create your own little Photoshoot using your mobile phone with the clothes if you get through. What we're saying is that you can be really be creative with this.

This won't be a one off thing either. We value your loyalty and voice and as we grow as a label we will remain loyal to you.

Initially, we're going to choose bloggers who answer this question best. Isossy Children celebrates diversity through global clothing for children. ' What does diversity mean to you?'
No more than 100 words.

We'll choose one person per month to start with who will then do a written review with images (and any additional other creative review ideas would be welcome). The plan is to take this around the world naturally as we are global clothing for kids but starting in the UK.

Do I get to keep the clothes?
At this time you don't. We'll ask you to return them to us. For this to work we will need to keep them circulating so please treat them with love and care and we will cover the costs of shipping so you will not be out of pocket!

Parental consent
Yes, we will need your parents to consent your entry into this competition and approve of everything you do if you get through. Please copy them into all emails. Remember, #parentsrule.

Remember to enter, email info@isossychildren.com the below question.

Isossy Children celebrates diversity through global clothing for

Isossy Children meets Fresh Kid Nation

We first met Shauna of Fresh Kid Nation at our Bloggers and Press Day in New York in March. Here we find out what inspired Shauna to start her business.

What inspired you to start your business?

I have been a costume designer and seamstress since I graduated from Syracuse University in 2006. I started designing children costumes in 2009 right after my son was born. I realized that I was able to bring my baby to rehearsals and meetings so continued working only with children. While shopping for costumes I began asking kids where do they shop or and noticed that each kid had a unique style. I decided to write a fashion blog that focused on children's wear companies,
celebrity kids style and upcoming trends in kids fashion. Fresh Kid Nation is a website that celebrates stylish kids from around the world.

What have been your favourite client experiences?

It's amazing that I have worked with so many different people! I have worked with non-profits,schools and large companies in New York City. I remember writing a blog about my spring break experience for MTV in 2006. I was given VIP passes for my friends and we went to all the nightclubs, parties and even had backstage access to meet the celebrities. It was the best writing job I ever had.
The most rewarding experience I have had was last summer working part time as an Summer Teacher in Brooklyn. My students created a blog and Tumblr about the camp and we received a phone call and email from the Deputy Commissioner of New York City's Youth Development office. It was an honor to be recognized by a high ranking individual.

What advice would you give to someone starting up in your industry?

Please don't be afraid to intern and do lots of research. The key to longevity is being knowledgeable about the industry, making connections and being nice.

What are your long term goals?

I will be completing a master's degree in Education until 2014. I eventually would like to develop the Blog into a major Urban children's fashion source and continue to design children's costumes. I know I will also establish a non-profit organization for art.

Isossy Children celebrates diversity through global clothing for
children. Why do you think diversity matters for every generation?

In order to grow as individual, one must be willing to learn about different ethnic groups, religions and cultures. The world would be a better place in general if we as a society take the time to understand each other instead of passing judgements.

What words of wisdom do you think every child should grow up knowing?

Be kind to others and love yourself because your are beautiful!
